The world's largest babà
On 14 September 2025, in the heart of Teggiano, Maestro Domenico Manfredi made the world's largest babà, now in the Guinness World Records. It was baked in a single mould, without assembling pieces: fresh from the oven it weighed 196 kilos, and after soaking in 340 litres of rum it reached 540.
The dough took 1,200 eggs, 80 kilos of flour, 32 of butter and 2.5 of yeast. Weight, measurements and method were verified in the square by notary Giuseppina Di Novella. The event was held under the patronage of the Municipality of Teggiano and the aegis of the International Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate.
A project that seemed impossible, but one we took on with determination, skill and passion.
